Today, we’d like to introduce you to Sona Cox.
Hi Sona, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I moved to the USA from a little village in the Czech Republic. I spent my career working in the fields of luxury, fashion, and customer service. While managing bridal boutiques for years, I learned everything about the bridal industry, wedding gown designers, and the needs of our brides. That’s when I knew Perla Bridal could be exceptional.
I like to get to know brides in my own boutique and use my years of experience to bring fresh looks with customized gowns and the perfect dress for each bride. I am very passionate about the details and we try to create an environment like none other. My vision is clear – for brides to feel warm and welcomed the minute they walk through the door. Because bridal gown shopping is such an intimate experience, service is our primary focus.
Brides and their families are not just clients, they become friends. Perla Bridal’s team makes it their daily mission to provide brides with an unmatched level of service, ensuring they have a truly unforgettable experience at Perla Bridal. The collection is carefully curated and specific to a discerning eye. The team at Perla Bridal is very passionate about providing the best designs from the world’s best European designers.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
In the bridal industry, the road to success is often marked by smooth stretches and challenging obstacles. While every business and entrepreneur’s journey is unique, there are some common struggles individuals in the bridal industry may encounter. I think our personal biggest challenge was the pandemic in 2020, which required us to stay focused, creative, and mainly calm. Here are some other challenges that I believe every business owner goes through sooner or later.
Competition: The bridal industry is highly competitive, with numerous designers, boutiques, and vendors vying for attention. Standing out in such a crowded market can be a significant challenge.
Seasonal Demand: Bridal businesses often experience fluctuating demand throughout the year, with peak seasons coinciding with popular wedding months. Managing cash flow during slower periods can be difficult for some businesses.
Changing Trends: Bridal fashion trends evolve constantly, and staying ahead of these trends while still appealing to a diverse range of customers can be challenging for designers and retailers.
Customer Expectations: Bridal customers have high expectations for their wedding attire and experience. Meeting these expectations while providing exceptional customer service can be demanding for businesses in the industry.
Marketing and Promotion: Effectively reaching and engaging with target customers requires savvy marketing and promotion strategies. Building brand awareness and attracting new clients can be time-consuming and resource-intensive.
Regulatory Challenges: Compliance with regulations related to bridal attire, alterations, and bridal services can add another layer of complexity to running a bridal business.
Economic Factors: Economic downturns or instability can impact couples’ willingness to spend on weddings, affecting the overall demand for bridal products and services.
While these challenges can be daunting, many bridal businesses successfully navigate them by being innovative, customer-focused, and adaptable to changing market conditions. Building strong relationships with clients and industry partners, maintaining quality standards, and continuously evolving to meet the needs of modern couples are key strategies for overcoming obstacles in the bridal industry.

We are here to make it an enjoyable and memorable experience.
And the best part? We combine the elegance of a one-on-one service boutique with the grandeur of a showroom of beautiful gowns that are reasonably priced. We believe the experience should not be overshadowed by stress, and we strive to create the perfect moment for our brides to “Say Yes” to their dress.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Certainly! Finding a mentor and networking effectively are crucial steps in personal and professional development. My mentor was one of my designers (Viero Bridal). Vira was the one who introduced me to the bridal industry and taught me everything I know about this business.
As for finding the right network group, you need to Identify Your Goals. Before seeking networking opportunities, clarify your goals and what you hope to achieve. Attend Industry Events like Conferences, workshops, seminars, and industry-specific events are great places to meet potential mentors and expand your network.
We try to collaborate on style photoshoots with local businesses and get exposure not just for us but also for our colleagues. We learned that having a good relationship with local businesses is the gold.
