Everyone has their own process they want to take when planning their wedding. There are things that will run smoothly and there will be hiccups along the way, but figuring out how to prepare, deal with, and even ignore some of these problems will help relieve so much stress.
We wanted to share with you some essential wedding advice, tips, and tricks every couple should know for a smoother and easier planning process!
1. Start Planning Early
Giving yourself time to breathe will help you get more done and will help you be more purposeful with your wedding and choices. Also, don’t be afraid to drop things! This is why you plan ahead if things fall through the cracks that aren’t always as important, you can simply just let it go.
2. Leave Space in Your Budget
Figuring out what your list of ‘must-haves’ from the venue to the guest list to the food selection is important and making sure to allocate extra room for surprise expenses will help relieve the stress of things like umbrellas for a rainy day or reprinting extra invites because of mistakes. Just make sure to consider the total cost of your celebration before anything else and to not forget about keeping a paper trail!
3. Be Honest with Yourself and Trust Your Gut
Be clear when it comes to your needs and desires to everyone collaborating on your wedding. Trust your gut and it’s important to be open when it comes to what you like and don’t like. Also, take your time on your dress, you want to pick a dress that fits well with the venue and the time of the year, not just the one that looks the best.
4. Be Realistic with Your Time
Putting together a schedule and doing things one by one will help you not take on too many things too quickly. Have a vision so you can reach that goal. When time comes nearer to the wedding date and it seems like you still have a mile long to-do list, again, don’t be afraid to cut things out. If you’re a “last-minute” bride we do have a few tips for you too.
5. Follow Your Own Traditions
Don’t get too wrapped up in what you are and aren’t supposed to be doing, there are no rules to your wedding. There isn’t a formula to the perfect wedding, but there is a formula to having an enjoyable one, and that’s designing it for you and your partner in the way you want to be celebrated.
6. Don’t Be Afraid to Ask For Help
Making sure to have friends and family who will be supportive and honest with you when it comes to your dress, recommending vendors, or even with setting up the venue. Making sure those closest to you are there to help you and that will help relieve so much stress. Don’t be afraid to seek out some help, those around you want you to be happy too.
7. Prioritize Your Marriage
Don’t forget the reasoning behind the wedding. The big celebration doesn’t mean anything if you forget the reasoning behind it and your wedding is just the beginning of a marriage and not the end.
8. Enjoy the Experience
It’s unrealistic to have every last thing go perfectly, knowing and accepting that there will be problems will help you roll with the punches rather than turning them into even bigger issues. Who you choose to be with on this adventure and how you choose to do it is what matters, so focus on being present in the moment.
